Antimo Michael Onzo Jr. was born on the fifth day of June, 1984, at Flushing Hospital, Queens, New York. Ever since five years old, Antimo has enjoyed entertaining, whether by laughter or music. Once a year his family would go on vacation to a resort called 'Pleasant Acres,' where he'd perform in an annual talent show. The audience's encores spoke for themselves, allowing Antimo to perform three songs, dismissing the rules of one song per person.
Over the years, Antimo realized his affinity for creating. After moving to Florida at the age of nine, Antimo explored the realm of musical theater providing a different aspect for musical creativity, so he joined the corporation 'Orlando Junior Theater.' Landing countless roles including the Scarecrow in the 'Wizard of Oz,' and Edmund in 'Narnia,' Antimo worked on his acting skills whilst enjoying what he loved doing most, singing.
Since childhood, Antimo suffered from chronic inner-ear infections. Due to such, Antimo developed hearing loss in his left ear; causing frustration since it made it difficult to hear himself when he'd sing, throwing him off key (fortunately, the hearing problem has been recently corrected).
In addition, Antimo distressfully dismissed singing altogether since his slight handicap left no room for any encouragement. It was not until senior year of attendance at Oviedo High School, Antimo's emotional hardships, including the loss of two of (what he now considers to be) his greatest friends in a tragic car accident, set free the one answer to his seemingly infinite questions; "The purpose of life is a life of purpose," Robert Byrne.
Zach Jarzynka and Brittany Smith were enrolled in high school at the time, and their passings are definitely the catalyst for allowing Antimo to realize his songwriting abilities. Antimo felt something must be done, and music was his way. "When I Last Saw You" is the first song he's ever written, performed at the senior farewell ceremony dedicated to both their remembrance, shared with all of their friends.
As life is mysterious, fate's 'coincidence' of meeting Antimo's former producer, Ryan Riddle, fueled Antimo's passion for creating. Through Riddle, Antimo was able to elaborate on the mere singularity of sound by a piano or guitar, both which learned by ear, by recording.
Since December of 2005 Antimo has been enhancing his music, singing, and songwriting skills in Cape Coral, Florida, unlocking his life long creative imagination with the debut of his yet to be entitled full length album with such inspirations as Bonnie Lacagnina (Manager, Executive Producer, Producer, Director, Designer, Art Director, Videographer, Photographer, and Web Designer).
With much elation, Antimo was incorporated into several of FGCU's class syllabus for:
Principles of Public Relations Spring 2006
Issues In Culture and Society Spring 2006
Integrated Core Senior Seminar Fall 2006
Public Relations Strategy Fall 2006
Senior Internship Spring 2007
This led to not only the music video, "When I Last Saw You," but also the production entitled, "A Dozen Roses" held in the Sugden Theatre at FGCU.
Together they've helped raise approximately $10,000.00 worth of food for The Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida, additionally helping raise approximately $24,000.00 for The John Entwistle Foundation.
Antimo is currently in the production stages of both material for guest speaking and motivational performing, and consolidating cumulative writings for a future book.
